 A high-energy cover band from Boulder, The Mutilators were a pre-cursor to the Defex. After a personnel restructuring, an infusion of additional creative talent, and several months in the garage, the Defex emerged to take over where the Mutilators left off. Guitarist Myles Syken went off to co-found The Corvairs while the other three musicians formed the foundation of the Defex.Even though the Mutilator's reign was short, they made a mark on the Boulder/Denver punk scene with their loud music and energetic stage presence.
